Finding the right electronics manufacturer in China, or elsewhere in Asia, is complicated. You need to make sure that they got the right quality management systems in place, and that they can make products that comply with electronics safety standards in your country.

By attending a trade show, you can meet a large number of qualified electronics suppliers, under one roof. Thus, you can save weeks, perhaps even months, of work when looking for the right manufacturer.

In this guide, you get a complete overview of the top 2020 electronics trade shows, in Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan (ROC), Vietnam and Singapore.

Hong Kong

Hong Kong Electronics Fair

The Hong Kong Electronics Fair will take place on October 13-16, 2020, in Hong Kong.

Organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council every year, it is one of the largest electronics fairs in Asia. The last event was attended by more than sixty thousand visitors, while more than 3,700 exhibitors also joined the show.

You can visit Hong Kong without a visa for a limited period in most cases as Hong Kong offers visa-free entry to 170 countries. You can check the complete list to check if your country is included.

You also have to pay HK$100 as admission fees to visit this fair while only 18 years or older participants are allowed to attend.

The fair is known for its Hall of Fame category, which is dedicated to the most eye-catching and trending products, and top brands.

You can find a wide range of products at this fair displayed by thousands of brands and tech companies under different product categories.

Global Sources Consumer Electronics

Global Sources Consumer Electronics is another mega electronic trade fair that will take place on October 11-14, 2020.

The fair, which is organized by Global Sources, features more than 3,700 display booths, and separate zones for different categories like Startup Launchpad, Smart Living Pavilion, VR & Gaming Experience Zone, Next-Gen Components Zone, and more.

You can also find a wide range of products under different categories like:

The admission fee is HK$50 while only 18 years or older are allowed to enter.

The show takes place in two phases – the first phase is for consumer electronics while the second phase is for mobile electronics.

China (Mainland)

Canton Fair Phase 1

The Canton Fair takes place twice every year in three phases. For the year 2020, phase 1 takes place on April 15-19, 2020 (spring edition) and on October 15-19, 2020 (autumn edition):

Phase 1 is designated for Electronics & Household Electronics Appliances and other similar products.

You can also explore lighting equipment, vehicles & spare parts, machinery, hardware & tools, and other related products.

To visit the fair, you need a visa if you’re not from the 13 countries with a visa-free entry that also includes Singapore and Japan. You can also check the list here to learn about your country’s status.

People who are visiting from North America, Europe, and Australia need a visa to visit China.

The exhibition takes place twice a year in April and October. The last event was attended by around 100,000 visitors while over 20,000 businesses also displayed their products.

CEF Shanghai

The China Electronics Fair will take place on November 16-18, 2020, in Shanghai.

The fair is organized by China Electronics Appliance Corporation as a regular yearly event since 1964. It is one of the largest electronic shows in China and Asia.

Around 1,500 manufacturers and brands attend CEF Shanghai every year, while more than 60,000 visitors also visit the fair.

The fair is slightly different from other similar exhibitions on our list as it focuses more on components instead of products. You can mostly find electronic components in this exhibition under various categories like electronics components (connector, semiconductor, etc.), electronics equipment and instruments, defense electronics, smart cars, lithium battery materials, on-vehicle software & hardware, and more.

The admission is only allowed for 18 years and older.

CEF Shenzhen

The China Electronics Fair (CEF) Shenzhen takes place on April 9-11, 2020, at the Shenzhen Convention & Exhibition Center (SZCEC).

The three versions of this fair are organized by CEAC (China Electronics Appliance Corp.) every year in different cities including Shenzhen.

The exhibition center is divided among 9 Halls based on the product categories which include Intelligent Manufacturing, New Displays & Applications, 3D Printing, Industrial Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Interactive Environment, Test and Measurement Instruments, New Energy, and Electronic Components.

You can find some of the most advanced consumer products here based on the groundbreaking latest technology.

Thousands of exhibitors and visitors attend this fair every year, which makes it one of the major electronic fairs in Asia.

Taiwan (Republic of China)


Computex Taipei will take place on June 2-6, 2020, in Taipei. It is also referred to as one of the leading B2B ICT trade shows in Asia.

In 2019, around 1,680 exhibitors joined the trade show from 26 countries, while products were displayed on more than 5,800 booths.

You can find some of the leading tech giants here as the fair focuses on technology and artificial intelligence.

Most of the exhibitors are Taiwan based companies, but you can also find companies from Mainland China, Hong Kong S.A.R, South Korea, Europe, the United States, and Japan.

Around 42,000 visitors from 171 countries also visited the fair in 2019.

You can explore products and solutions under different categories which include Smart Home & Entertainment, Wearable Devices, Smart Tech Solutions, Security Applications, Automotive Electronics, and more.

This is a high-tech ICT exhibition where you can explore future technology trends, and meet with some of the most promising tech startups.

You can also visit the sister exhibition, Innovex on the same dates and at the same venue which is specifically for tech startups.

Admission is restricted to professionals (you must have a business card) and people over the age of 18.

Taiwan allows visa-free entry to around 60 countries which include United States, Canada, European Union, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, etc. You can also check the complete list here.

The Taipei International Electronics Show, also known as TAITRONICS, will take place on October 21-23 2020, in Taipei.

The yearly event is organized by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA).

The event attracts hundreds of exhibitors every year and focuses more on electronic components instead of consumer products.

You can find categories like cables, wires, batteries, power supplies, instruments, security equipment, LED components, and few consumer electronic devices.

You can also attend another similar event on the same dates and at the same venue, BROADBAND Taiwan exhibition, which focuses on electronic communication technologies.

The event is not as big as some other exhibitions, but it still attracts a considerable number of exhibitors and visitors from all around the world.

More than 530 exhibitors joined the last event while around 24,000 visitors attended as well.

NEPCON Vietnam

NEPCON is the only major exhibition on electronics and related technology in Vietnam that takes place in September or October once every year. This year, it will take place on September 9-11, 2020, at Saigon Exhibition & Convention Center (SECC).

For people from the European Union, Japan, UK, South Korea, Malaysia, or Singapore, entry without a visa is possible while for most other nationalities, a visa is required.

In total, Vietnam offers visa-free entry to citizens of 24 countries. You can check the list here if your country is included.

Compared to other events on our list, the exhibition is small in size that attracted less than 10,000 visitors last year and only a few hundred exhibitors.

But it is still a good option to meet Vietnam based manufacturers and to explore testing technologies, SMT, electronic equipment, and manufacturing components.

CEE or Consumer Electronics Exhibition will take place on May 28-31, 2020.

It is the largest electronics and technology exhibition in Singapore, where you can find some of the most advanced and high-tech consumer products from well-known brands.

You can find a wide range of computers, smart products, wearables, artificial intelligence, and similar high-tech products.

What makes it unique is its trade-in option that allows you to swap your old tablets, computers, and laptops/Notebooks with newer ones.

Singapore allows visa-free entry to almost 80% of the world which includes the European Union, the United States, Canada, Australia, Japan, South Korea, and many other countries.

If you’re visiting from North America or Europe, you can visit Singapore for 30 or 90 days (depending on your country of origin) without any visa.

The event takes place once a year.
